The public learning platform for CareerLabs' engineering students. Students take a career-interest survey, get recommended career tracks and courses, watch course previews, register for webinars and buy programs. I was a core developer from day one, on the React app and the Express backend that connects it to the CRM, payments and webinar tools.
The problem
Engineering students choosing a career path rarely get structured, personalised guidance on which track fits them, and CareerLabs needed every interested student to reach its sales team as a lead.
What I built
- Career Track Recommendation Engine (Lite & Pro): a multi-step survey on interests, college, department and feedback that recommends career fields with recommended, similar and popular courses — and can be retaken.
- Course catalogue with readable URLs, Vimeo preview videos, loading placeholders and 10+ landing pages for career-launch programs (Data Science, Embedded Systems, VLSI, Full-Stack Java, UI/UX, IoT and more).
- Accounts with sign-up, login, Google sign-in, password reset and JWT sessions handled on the Express backend.
- Razorpay checkout with server-side payment verification for the Placement Assured programs.
- Webinar registration through the Zoom and GoTo Webinar APIs, plus event and partner pages (Tech Mahindra, Dr. Reddy's).
- Lead capture: every sign-up or enrolment creates a lead in LeadSquared and logs the activity, plus offer popups, discount banners, click-to-call, a WhatsApp flow and a college-name autocomplete.
- Analytics across Mixpanel (users, events, video plays), Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel conversions and Hotjar.
- Social proof: testimonials filtered by GRE, GMAT, MS, MBA, Placed and college, video testimonials and a Profile Score landing page.
- Introduced message queues that cut server load time by 98%; turned the app into a PWA with code splitting, a faster first load and server-side compression.
Outcome
- 98% reduction in server load time.
- Every sign-up and enrolment lands in the CRM automatically, so sales can follow up without manual entry.
- Excellence Award in Engineering — CareerWizard.
